PRE-OPERATIVE
INSTRUCTIONS
These
instructions are intended as a guide
to what you should do to best prepare
your pet for a procedure.
Feeding
The last meal should
be given no later than 7pm the night before the
appointment.
Water
Fresh
water should be available until the morning
of the appointment.
Dental
Work
If
the vet has recommended your pet needs
some dental work, it may involve extractions,
as it is often impossible to see damage
to teeth until the tartar has been removed
when your pet has been anaesthetised.
If one or more extractions are necessary,
they will be done at the time.
Cats
should be kept indoors from the evening
before the day of the surgery and given
access to a litter tray.
Please
give your pet a chance to empty their
bowels andbladder on the morning of
the operation.
Please
bring your pet to the surgery between
8 30am and 9.00am
on the operating date.
Allow
10-15 minutes on the morning of admission, so
the nurse can discuss the operation
and check over your pet.
If
you have any worries or are concerned
about the cost, please
ring the surgery or speak to
the nurse on your arrival.
Pre
operative checks usually require
a 5 minute appointment which
should be made a few days before
the oepration date.
